Job Title: Director of Information Communication Technology (ICT)

Location: Anyigba, Kogi State.

Job Summary: To lead and direct the provision and delivery of ICT services throughout the University.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of IT and communications professionals and provide strategic directions, develop and implement the ICT strategy and other policy documents, oversee support systems to a range of users across the University on 24 hours, 365 days a year, and supervise the ICT business
  • Oversee the development and delivery of ICT products and services, in accordance with agreed service and performance standards, industry best practice and in alignment with the University’s objectives and strategic initiatives
  • Drive the ICT collaborative agenda on behalf of the University, in conjunction with other local and foreign partners
  • Perform such otherICTrelateddutiesasmaybedirectedbytheViceChancellor

 

Educational Attainment/ Professional Qualifications/Work Experience

Candidates should possess a degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Management Information System with 10 years’ experience, five (5) of which should be in a tertiary or related institution, and be registered withthe relevant professional bodies. Possession of professional globally acceptable certifications will beanadvantage.Inaddition,thecandidateshouldpossessthefollowingskills/capabilities:

  • Leadership and management skills
  • Implementing executive policies and ensuring strategic capacity planning
  • Financial skills including budgeting, forecasting, and justifying expenditures.
  • An analytical mindset to develop and utilize reliable metrics and overseeing SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-based) metrics for hardware, software, and storage
  • Advanced literacy skills e.g. composition and presentation of reports, policies, strategy papers
  • Directing and supporting the implementation of new software and hardware
  • Identifying and recommending new technology solutions
  • Able to workonowninitiativeaswellaspartofateam

 

Age: Applicants must not be more than fifty-five (55) years of age at the time of appointment.

Health: Applicants must enjoy good health to be able to endure the rigors of the duties of the position.

Duration of Appointment: The appointment shall be for a single term of Five (5) years.

Conditions of Service: These are as approved by the Governing Council of the University and as may be modified from time to time.

 

  1. 2.: Front End Developer: Front end Developers responsible for ensuring the alignment of web design and user experience requirements, optimizing web pages for maximum efficiency and maintaining brand consistency across all web pages, among other duties. To work with Back end Developers, Graphic Designers and User Experience Designers to ensure all elements of web creation are consistent. FrontEndDeveloperResponsibilitiesinclude:
    • Developing features toenhancetheuser experience
    • Striking a balance between functional and aesthetic design
    • Ensuring web designisoptimizedfor smartphones
    • Optimizing web pages for maximum speed and scalability
    • Maintaining brand consistency throughout the design

Candidates should possess a degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Management Information System with 4 years’ experience, Three (2) of which should be in a tertiary or related institution, and be registered with the relevant professional bodies. Possession of professional globally acceptable certifications, with proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery, Understanding of server-side CSS, experience with graphic design applications and responsive and adaptive design, understanding of SEO principles, good problem-solving skills and verbal communication skills will be an advantage.

 

  1. 3.: Computer Programmer: Candidates should possess a degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Management Information System with 6 years’ experience, Three (3) of which should be in a tertiary or related institution, and be registered with the relevant professional bodies. Possession of professional globally acceptable certifications will be an advantage. Advanced knowledge of operating systems, Analytical, and problem-solvingskills, Java, C++, SQL, C#, and HTML experience, Aptitude for learning new technology, Deadline driven and Superior communication skills. The Computer Programmer's duties will include managing systems performance, providing tech support, reviewing and updating existing programs, identifying and fixing defects, supporting data architecture, generating reports, developing in-house software, and mitigating potential risk, task management, and superior problem solving and critical thinking skills. Computer Programmer Responsibilities include:

 

  • Coding and debugging
  • Designing and testing computer structures
  • Troubleshooting system errors

  • Profiling and analyzing algorithms

  1. 4.: Database Administrator: Candidates should possess a degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Management Information System with 6 years’ experience, Three (3) of which should be in a tertiary or related institution, and be registered with the relevant professional bodies. Possession of professional globally acceptable certifications will be an advantage.Candidates must possess extensive knowledge of the databases, be analytic problem- solvers and communicators who are fluent in most data manipulation languages such asMS SQL, Oracle Database, Hadoop or PostgreSQL. Advanced certification as an MCDBA or MCSDfor.NETisResponsibilitiesinclude:

  • Monitoring system performance and identifying problems that arise
  • Respond in atimelymannertouser-reported errors
  • Protecting the databaseagainstthreatsorunauthorized access
  • Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss
  • Reporting on metricsregardingusageand performance
  • Suggesting changes and improvements for maintenance or protection
  • Regularly liaising withITprojectmanagersanddatabase programmers
  • Designing databases withbothfront-endandback-endusersin mind

 

  1. 5.: Security Analyst: Candidates should possess a degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Management Information System with 6 years’ experience, Three (3) of which should be in a tertiary or related institution, and be registered with the relevant professional bodies. Possession of professional globally acceptable certifications will be an advantage. The Security Analyst's responsibilities include securing our online and on-premises infrastructures, filtering out suspicious activity, and finding and mitigating security risks before any breaches can occur. You will work inter-departmentally to identify and correct anyflawsinoursecuritySecurityAnalystResponsibilities:

 

  • Leading efforts to counter security breaches and anticipating and reducing the likelihood of future security alerts, incidents, and disasters.
  • Defining, planning, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading security measures, policies, and controls
  • Writing reports and providing insights on the efficacy of the current security policies, incident responses,disasterrecoveryplans,andothersecurity-related information
  • Assisting with the creation of updates and training programs to secure the network and train the employees
  • Keeping the securitysystemsupto date
  • Monitoring security access and maintaining the relevant data
  • Conducting vulnerability testing and risk analyses to assess security and performing internal and external security audits
  • Analyzing security breaches to identify the cause and to update incidence responses and disaster recovery plans

  1. 6.: Network Engineer: Candidates should possess a degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Management Information System with 6 years’ experience, Three (3) of which should be in a tertiary or related institution, and be registered with the relevant professional bodies. Possession of professional globally acceptable certifications will be an advantage. A strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware, ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers and a deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocolsishighlydesiredforthisOtherskillsmustinclude;
  • Ability to thinkthroughproblemsandvisualize solutions
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless accesspoints,firewall,routers,switches, controllers
  • Knowledge of applicationtransportandnetworkinfrastructure protocols
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
  • Provides specific detailedinformationforhardwareandsoftware selection
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources

  1. 7.: Help Desk and Administrative Support: Candidates should possess a degree in Information Technology, Management Information System or general Administration with 2 years’
